Continuing the discussion from Searching of objects by different names:
Hi Sebastian,
I’m following up on our previous communication because it concerns the same issue. I enjoy photographing planetary nebulae, many of which are small objects. When I post the photos on Telescopius, I can’t find them when searching. This applies in particular to PNs where the size is listed as N/A. Though the planetary nebula in the image is larger than the 5% search limit, the missing size information causes it to be considered smaller and so it isn’t found when searching (e.g.:
Also, a number of objects are not listed in your database (for example ALV 1, which I photographed recently). I suggest a modification so that the system searches for additional objects that the author explicitly states are in the image. Regardless of their size. I can find some nebulae under the PK catalog, but not under PN G… If I also entered a different name for the object in the image, it’d be awesome if the program could find it by that name as well.
In conclusion, I’m grateful for the immense amount of work you have put into this program. I love to use it.
Thanks for your time.
